Cinnamon Sugar Toast - French Toast - In short: Panic Cakes
Video Recipe - A powerful snack attack is one of the worst feelings on a sunday night. Knowing there is nothing in the house and you just really feel like you *need* something delicious. Well, the cinnamon toast and the french toast is just the solution. They only use ingredients that most people have lying about, and it takes 5 minutes to make them.
Cinnamon Sugar Toast - Poor Knights
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 25 g (1 oz) butter
- 2 slices white bread
Turn on the oven grill. Keep the door ajar.
Knead the sugar, cinnamon and butter to a creamy consistency.
It is easiest if the butter is soft to begin with.
Put the bread under the grill. Keep a distance of 5-10 cm (2-4 inches).
The further away it is from the grill, the more uniform will be, and there is less risk of burned areas, but it also takes longer.
Give it about 5 minutes. When it bubbles uniformly all over and the bread is golden at the edges, it is finished.
If it begins to smoke, then take them out immediately.
When they are cooled and the sugar form a hard crust, you know they are perfect.
You can use just ½ teaspoon cinnamon.
You cannot just sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top of the butter instead of mixing it in. There will not be enough sugar, and it will not taste as good.
- 2 eggs
- 1 dl (½ cup) milk
- 4 slices white bread
- syrup and butter to pour over.
Mix the eggs and the milk with a fork in a pan that has room enough for at least 2 slices of bread.
Put in the slices of bread and let them soak up as much egg mass as possible. For as long as 5 minutes.
Fry the toasts in plenty butter in a medium hot pan. Do no let the butter burn.
Serve with syrup. Maybe even a small piece of butter. And cinnamon, and fruit ... and ...
You can use cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar, jam, liquid caramel, chocolate sauce, syrup, sugar, fruit, or whatever else you have of "liquid sweets".
But french toast need not be eaten with only sweet accessories.
Fish or fresh vegetables are also good as an accessory. Almost healthy even. Good examples are smoked trout, salmon or mackerel. tomato Salsa, guacamole. avocado slices, etc., etc.
It is also very nice for a breakfast instead of American pancakes. And a whole lot easier.
